We keep serving.... and over 350+ came for food.
Till the pots were scraped empty of all food. At the end we had to finish feeding with only rice and tortillas, as it was all that was left. Moms are detirmined that not one person will go away hungry from this feeding site.

So many families are struggling deeply with the loss of their homes, but they are detirmined to not leave. We support them.
Our team Mike and Roxie have returned to the same place that we were set up serving families in Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island. We went to offer meals and to show them America has not forgotten them. This neighborhood church has been the main support system for this area!
This is the same spot... the street is now clean, but many homes are sadly still a mess. Soon 'Holy Smoke' was fired up and the smell of bbq was going again in this neighborhood.
Soon hard working families start coming, 'you guys are back?!!!!' So many mentioned how encouraging it was to see them again and know they weren't forgotten!
Stories start being told of how there are a lot of homes not being worked on because of finances. There has been no or very little governmental help in this area...... six months later.
Our support to this neighborhood is invaluable, these families appreciate the care, food and the time to tell their stories to someone who cares. Six months later after Hurricane Sandy Moms Against Hunger provides care for these families in need.
Thousands of families were displaced as flood waters swept through the streets, businesses and homes of Calgary Canada. This flood completely washed away the hopes and dreams of each family affected. It is estimated that 256 million in damages has been done to public buildings and infrastructures.
The Moms Against Hunger Canada team was there to provide support, practical assistance and finances to many many families in their need. Charity and Mitz, a great Mom and Dad who volunteered their efforts to help.... it was greatly appreciated!
Each family was so very grateful for the funds to help them start rebuilding.
The power of water ruins everything, and the mud that follows finishes off anything left. Bacteria covers a home, so everything must be removed and thrown out.

The Pan de Vida Grandparents Home receives a visit from Moms Against Hunger, and we were gratefully received to begin shipping food to them.
She was abandoned by her family, and was brought here for care. Very thin and blind, this little lady needs nutritional food and loving support.
The handicapped are often left to fend for themselves in the developing world.
No one should be alone in the last stages of life.... so glad he was brought here. He will pass in peace and quiet here in a clean Home.

The things a family needs in a crisis like this tornado is food, water and supplies. The best way to help with the details like gas, and perscriptions and ongoing issues for a family that cannot work is to give them gift cards. MAH does this to sustain families in such an hour.

The massive 1.3 mile wide tornado slammed into Moore Oklahoma on Monday May 27th sadly killed 24 people including 9 children. In times like these Moms Against Hunger steps in to provide supplies, but more than that we bring loving arms and the emotional support of a mother for a community in shock. It is estimated that 10,000+ people have been deeply affected by the damage and destruction of this EF5 tornado.
Seven little children lost their lives at Plaza Towers Elementary
School. We bring the deepest sympathy and love from Nucerity and Moms Against Hunger to these families.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
Families want us to come into their destroyed homes to tell us
their story. At a time like this, it is
important that they be able to talk to someone about their trauma. Moms are the natural ones to listen and give
them encouragement to go forward with. This
is our role in MAH to respond to each one with compassion.
While other agencies are focused on feeding, we are focused
directly on each person. MAH packed 40
lbs of supplies in backpacks and walked the streets going ‘house’ to house
touching lives and giving out first aid kits, sun block, insect repellant, baby
goods, cooling wipes and feminine hygiene goods, leather gloves and gift cards.
While they are digging through looking for anything of their former lives, we
provide instant aid for this very hour in the hot sun they are working in all
day long.

It takes a compassionate Mom to go site by site to offer personal aid at a time like this! Everybody wants their Mom when the life they once knew is gone - many do not have the family support, and reach for us with open arms to help them.
We apply the tender touch of sunscreen to faces that are already burned from being outside since the tornado.
Supplies are given to the Infant Crisis Services such as baby lotion, wipes, soaps, among other goods. They appreciate all the help we can give them!
Everybody needs to tell their story to help with overcoming the trauma of it all. Moms are the ones who listen and provide emotional support in such an hour.
She sets in her car unsure of the future and her next steps to take. Shes scratched up and bruised - we are able to offer her aid and supplies to help.
She doesn't feel like eating anything, nor does she want any supplies right now....but she does want to talk to someone. We provide the heart and listening ears to help her cope with this trauma. Sometimes it's not what you can give that helps, it's how you can listen with a mother's heart that helps so much in a complete loss.
We provide good meals for families who are in shock over losing everything in the tornado's. Oklahoma needs the outside aid of many compassionate volunteers to help them in the aftermath and sorrow of their losses.

Granbury Texas suffered tornadoes ranging from 160 200 miles an hour. Now entire neighborhoods are destroyed and people are missing! Moms Against Hunger was there within 24 hours in the aftermath joining hearts with those who will be able to help these many families. Igniting the hearts of moms and dads to jump in and help by showing them what to do to help is one of the goals we fulfill in a crisis situation.
Things are a real mess here, we will post more when we can ..... say a prayer for these families. Soon we will begin feeding them.

The immediate needs for human care have been provided for now. The next hurtle to climb is actual funds for each family such as gas money, medication funds and the beginnings of trying to clean out their homes with shovels, rakes, garbage bags as all sorts of rubble will be needed to be cleared and removed piece by piece. Many wheel barrows and dumpters will be next to locate in all of their lives. So you can see the needs are great here in West.

This mother weaves fabric by hand.... so eventually she can make a purse from it.... so she can sell it... so she can buy food to feed her family. Her efforts to keep her children fed requires many hours just to make one length of fabric. It keeps this family at the very edge of eating or not eating every single day.
Mothers and children often go without their basic needs met here in Guatemala because they simply do not have any assistance.
It is reported that almost two thirds of all children live in poverty. Over 90% of the extreme poor live in rural areas. Poverty is much higher among the indigenous population. Malnutrition among children is extremely high, and some reports say that Guatemala has 49% of all children under 5 are under developed. We work to help these mothers and children overcome their daily struggles to survive.

The elderly in impoverished countries are so vulnerable to suffering. They don't have the energy or family's help many times to take care of them. In Amatitlan Guatemala there is a Hospice that is supplied with food and health care provisions to take care of these fragile people who have had no one to care for them.
The staff appreciates all that can be done for them..... gentle foods that the patients can eat easily, adult health care items, soap and blankets are some of the items that are brought to them. Caring Moms provide for the needs of these 80+ year old men and women that can no longer care for themselves.
Some past and some still present... but this Hospice provides human care and love for the elderly here in this small town.

They eat Moms Against Hunger food supplies and it helps them nutritionally to be sustained.
This school in San Juan Guatemala receives food from MAH. This rural school serves over 500 children daily with another 200+ that cannot get in because there is no space. Before MAH they only received a small bag of juice and a piece of bread for the day... very hard for a child to learn who is suffering from malnutrition.

She came up to me on the street (a cobblestone street) and the first thing I noticed was that she was barefoot. I have no idea how old she is, but she's well above 65 if guessing. Her feet were small and dirty, her eyes old and tired, the load on her head enormous to carry.
I took out a pair of shoes that hopefully will fit her and motioned for her to take them. She didn't know what to do.... but stood there almost leaning on me. Like she thought she might be dreaming that this was happening to her.
So I'm kneeling down to put them on her feet, without words to communicate with her as the native dialect that she spoke was unknown to me. But she knew another mother cared about her, and that was enough.
She was thrilled... no words were needed between us.
Money cannot buy this kind of joy... her lined face softened, her eyes glowing as she watched me walk away. She got a brand new pair of shoes, but I got the priceless joy of helping this little elderly lady in poverty.
