Shipments of food and aid are unloaded on a dock in Haiti. It's hot and sweaty work, but NO ONE complains as the food is so precious and needed. It takes teams of people to unload this container, and reload onto smaller trucks and taken to locations within the city for distribution. This one will bring provisions to the thousands and thousands of people living outside in the weather right now. We can't ship food quick enough without help. Help!
Shipping another container to Haiti to help those who are suffering from the lack of food, water, provisions, medical aid, baby supplies, tents, and much needed diapers. Baby shoes were given to me and I am so happy to be able to ship them! Can you imagine having a small toddling baby trying to get down and walk WITHOUT SHOES in the terrible rubble, garbage, dirt, muddy dust and bacteria. Their tender little feet want to learn to walk so bad.... but the risk of cuts, bruises and stubbed tiny toes is too great. It can take only one cut to start a raging infection here....
Without antiseptics or any clean water to wash off little legs and feet - this makes it impossible. Little shoes will certainly be a great help to mothers and little ones!!

Out of all the things that are so needful to a mom.... here is one thing you can send that she will appreciate. Diapers. I need all sizes please.

Supplies of all kinds have been collected by each HPD Unit and brought to MAH. Sergeant Babb has been a big help. And it's just in time because the next container is being loaded to ship to Haiti - #3.
And here it is leaving our warehouse yard. Container is jam packed.... and painted on all four sides as to who it's from and who it's going to. (Can't get our containers mixed up or lost in the port!!) Thanks HPD your donations will be arriving in Haiti soon!!
Water....water...water.
Packets of much needed items for a mother to use for her children. It's easier for her if we are able to ship items already put together like this. Then the aid worker only has to handle this bag one time... with many items inside it's a much easier, quicker way to get many supplies into her hands. Plus it's packaged in a way she can handle it simply.
And food.... lots of food - first to be shipped are emergency food packets that are easy to open and eat without needing anything to prepare it with. (no heat needed, no can openers or extra handling needed)
Shoes that are simple to wear - fits all sizes, men or women, rubber soles for walking in rubble.
Small, Medium. Large and Ex Large all sizes are shipped.
Cases, or rolling bags or backpacks are shipped to help the victims carry the supplies away. Imagine ... how do you carry the emergency foods, water, blankets and shoes etc without a way to handle it all? Plus carry the baby?
Shoes for little feet too. Many colors... and sizes. A mom will be so grateful for her baby's feet to have something to protect them from the glass, concrete, thousands of nails, and wood slivers that are everywhere from the earthquake and after shocks. A toddler wants to walk.... not be carried constantly.
Formula.... diapers....cereals.... baby foods... diaper cream.... blankets,,,,anything we can ship to help the thousands of mothers with small children!
Dr Gayla sends another container out of the Moms Against Hunger Warehouses headed for the port and Haiti yesterday.
As a Mom I make sure children are taken care of.... so my team followed the container to the shipyard and handed over the documentation personally to make sure this container gets to Haiti as quick as possible,
It took time at the port, but Moms Against Hunger wants to get supplies to Haiti continually. So our containers can arrive with desperately needed diapers, formula, food, wipes, shoes, clothing and many other items.

Moms Against Hunger completes another container and the doors are sealed shut. Now it's sent to the shipping company loaded on a ship and headed for the open waters for the port arranged to receive it.
"Push.... push...I know that last box will fit. Keep pressing.... it WILL go!"
Each container is packed as tight as it possibly can. Shipping to South American countries, or Asian ones or African nations - each container will be filled to capacity before we shut the doors.
This load goes to suffering humanity as soon as possible. The people are suffering severe food shortages and this load of Moms Against Hunger will feed thousands of village people with nutritious food. I am so happy to be ready to shut these doors and ship it!
Each container is packed floor to ceiling as tight as we can!! We never ship 'air' if we can help it. So each container is like a puzzle with fitting boxes carefully into each opening. Different sizes boxes must be placed in different areas to make it all fit compactly and tightly.
Many hands work together to fill each container with goods, supplies, blessings, food and aid.
While a container load of supplies seems like a lot to giveaway, within one single day.... thousands of food packets will be given away. Clothing will be on the backs of all those who receive from this shipment. And the shoes will be put on thousands of bare feet instantly. The enormous value of one container changes lives, building hope that tomorrow will be a fresh start at life.
Packing each pallet with goods takes time.....and great effort. But what it does when it arrives in the country of need is so very rewarding! Moms Against Hunger plans food shipments carefully along with clothing, shoes and medical supplies. I want every load to make the greatest impact possible in a nation. We have never shipped a load that did not meet many different needs. Invariably there will be people with health problems, who need food and protective clothing as well.
My heart leaps with I see another container pull into our warehouse yard. I know from years of living overseas the thousands of lives that will be strengthened when the container arrives in another country. From Eastern European countries to Asian, from African to Southern American nations we have shipped hundreds of these 20ft or 40ft containers around the world with humanitarian supplies for hurting people.
Once the MAH food is released from a port (any country) it must be unloaded quickly and put onto trucks (pre-arranged and rented) and sent to a secure location (rented in advance). Unloaded and sorted according to area of the country for delivery ( by reliable workers).
Then when the areas are prepared and the people told.... truckloads of aid (prepared and filled with petrol) will be transported to the different need areas and given out.
Lots of details to make hungry and sick people well....
“Come on guys push a little harder – I know this giant box will fit in this van”! It’s hot and sweaty work, but soon this van will roll out of our warehouses loaded completely with goods for mothers and children at another charity shelter. 1…2…3..PUSH!
It takes teamwork from everyone to work together for the same cause. And when another loaded vehicle rolls out of the gate, every takes a deep breath and knows they have made a difference in the lives of other human beings.
Two Tractor trailers in the docks and product starts to gather on the parking lot getting ready to ship out to another disaster area.
Hurricanes and earthquakes destroy in minutes what it takes lifetimes to build. When this happens Moms Against Hunger reaches out to those in shock and loss and provides aid in their hour of worst need. Immediate needs such as fresh water and cleaning supplies, emergency supplies of food stocks and baby goods are prepared for shipping out as soon as possible.
Volunteers are prepared to go and help, but they must have our help to have goods to give away. This takes coordination and the planned logistics of equipment, goods, and people that all converge at the point of disaster to provide relief.
Backing in another container to fill with goods for the needy, our staff works so hard to include every provision to help as many people as possible with one shipment! It takes much time and labor to gather up all of the goods to be shipped.
Then the packing begins of heavy duty boxes and pallets to carry everything on. Each container is loaded carefully for weight distribution as well as completing forms of specific requirements of different countries. Then the container is sealed and sent to the port of Houston for shipping.
With a good team, loading a container of food can take less than 4 hours when it all comes together. Can you imagine – less than 4 hours to help thousands of people!
